My Honors 231A class remained online for the entirety of winter quarter due to COVID-19. Although I never experienced the class in-person, I was surprised by how meaningful our online class conversations were. While taking the class, I read F*ck Your Diet by Chloe Hilliard for pleasure. I couldn’t help but notice the concepts that we had covered in Honors 231A appear in the novel. This inspired my final project, which investigated the effects of structural racism on diet and obesity. Identifying the connections between in-class work and real people and their stories was a particularly memorable learning experience.

FINAL PAPER - ARCH 151
My primary reason for taking ARCH 151 was to fulfill an Arts & Humanities credit, but I ended up really enjoying the class. Due to the traveling that I have done around Europe, I recognized many of the buildings that we covered in the course. It was fascinating to learn about the history behind these centuries-old buildings that I had previously visited. For our final paper, we were tasked with identifying the style of architecture for a building of our choice. I chose one of my favorite homes from my childhood neighborhood. While writing the paper, I learned about the application of the international style to the home and the significance behind architectural components incorporated in the house.

SNOWBOARDING TRIP - BRIAN HEAD, UTAH

Over winter break, I went on a snowboarding trip with my cousins to Brian Head, Utah. The sunsets and views of the mountain were incredible and I enjoyed spending quality time with family. I started snowboarding several years ago, and practicing this new skill on the trip was rewarding, although frustrating at times. Engaging in new skills strengthens the brain's prefrontal cortex and being in nature enhances memory and attention, so snowboarding simultaneously helped me prepare for school! The trip was a wonderful break from academic-related stress and left me feeling rejuvenated and ready to begin spring quarter!
