EQUITABLE FUTURES CASE COMPETITION
I participated in my first case competition this quarter. Initially, it was difficult figuring out how to tackle the problem as my other group members and I had no prior experience with case competitions. The event was hosted through UW Women in Business and was a partnership between Deloitte x Lululemon. It was a great experience tackling a real-world business problem. My team ended up placing 3rd and we won $500! I learned a lot about teamwork, working efficiently, and making compromises to reach a goal. I plan on participating in more case competitions in the future!

BUSINESS INTEREST GROUP APPLICATION

The case competition sparked my interest in consulting, and I decided to apply to the Business Impact Group. For the application, I had to come up with a solution for a hypothetical drug store, BIGHealth, that is experiencing decreased sales. I tuned into my creative skills and came up with a skincare brand
that BIGHealth could launch in collaboration with one of my favorite skincare influencers, Hyram. It was fun and educational to apply my creative, analytical, and marketing skills to come up with this solution. I was especially proud of the PowerPoint slide I made to pitch the idea, as I made it minimalistic yet elegant.
ENGL 281 FINAL PAPER
ENGL 281 was one of the most thought-provoking classes that I have taken at UW. It was a discussion-based class and the instructor, Gust Burns, took a unique approach to the class. He had us write in notebooks versus computers and challenged us to support every claim that we made with evidence. We investigated topics that included racism, capitalism, and "Afropessimism." I wrote my final paper on the cultural significance of the movie Get Out! and the comments that it made on society's perception of African-Americans. I found Get Out! to be a particularly haunting and compelling film when I watched it several years ago, and it was fascinating to analyze it from a literary and culturally significant standpoint. I enjoyed the assignment and it resulted in a final paper that I am proud of.
