FINAL PRESENTATION - HONORS 220A
Honors 220A (Storytelling in the Sciences) was one of my favorite classes that I have taken at UW. I loved my professor, Dr. Oliver Fraser, whose positive attitude and relaxed curriculum made the class enjoyable. We utilized improv and the five storytelling elements (protagonist, setup, inciting incident, development, and resolution) to deliver impactful presentations on a scientific topic of our choice. One of my presentations explored the effects of music on the brain. I love listening to music, and researching the topic was interesting and enjoyable. I find myself applying what I learned about the power of music to my life even today! I am proud of the final product of my presentation and it was definitely an academic highlight of my quarter.
ACTIVISM ARTICLE - THE DAILY
This was the first quarter that I was an active member of The Daily, UW’s student newspaper. I was the Editor-in-Chief of my newspaper in high school, so I was excited to continue journalism in college. I wrote my first article for The Daily this quarter - an opinion piece on the activists that have been throwing soup on famous paintings to protest climate change. The process of developing my position on the topic, interviewing others on their opinion, going through the revision process, and publishing my final article was extremely rewarding. I was also pleasantly surprised when I discovered that writers get paid for their articles. Overall, I look forward to writing more articles for The Daily!
MIDTERM #1 GRADE - ECON 201
I performed well in ECON 200 (Introduction to Microeconomics), so I was curious to see what ECON 201 (Introduction to Macroeconomics) would have in store for me. The teaching style of my professor for ECON 201 was much different from my ECON 200 professor, and I found myself struggling in the class initially. I studied hard for the first midterm, yet I did not feel confident in my performance after taking it. To my great surprise, I ended up performing well on the test. It reminded me to have faith in myself as a student and the correlation between working hard and success.
