THIRA HEALTH - ADULT PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION PROGRAM
I made the difficult decision to not take classes fall quarter. I was struggling intensely with mental health issues, and did not feel mentally prepared to take a quarter of rigorous classes. Instead, I completed a 6-week program with Thira Health, a women's mental health clinic in Bellevue. When people ask me what Thira was like, I tell them it

was essentially adult preschool. We colored, had 2 lessons a day, and even had to ask to go to the bathroom. It was a surprisingly enjoyable, low-stress time and the skills I learned in the program were essential for not only returning to UW, but my life beyond. Some individuals lived in the Thira house, pictured to the right. For one of the program outings, we completed a cooking class in the house and it was a peaceful and enjoyable outing.
INTENTION NOTEBOOK

Towards the end of the program, I noticed one of the other patients, Nuvneet, writing in a light lavender notebook. It inspired me find one of my own, and I went to Target and picked up the notebook pictured on the left. The notebook was surprisingly meaningful, as it contains prompts that encourage you to reflect on the positive aspects of your day, what you did to take care of yourself, and to set an intention for the next day. It also made me fall in love with journaling again and remember all the things I have to be thankful for in my life. I try to write in it as often as I can.
SWIMMING WITH STINGRAYS - GRAND CAYMAN ISLANDS TRIP
After my discharge from Thira, I embarked on a family trip to the Grand Cayman Islands, my all-time favorite travel destination. The experience was nothing short of incredible—the food was delicious, the locals were warm and welcoming, and the scenery was breathtaking. The highlight of the trip was swimming with stingrays. While the rest of my family felt apprehensive, I

found a profound sense of peace in the presence of these majestic creatures. It was a surprisingly symbolic moment, reminding me of an essential truth about life: like the stingrays, people are unlikely to harm you unless you pose a threat to them. Treat others with kindness, and you’ll likely be met with the same in return.
