FINAL PROJECT - HONORS 394C

Honors 394C was unique from the other classes that I have taken at UW. Our class was split into groups, assigned a Seattle neighborhood, and tasked with investigating the history of the neighborhood and how racism, displacement, gentrification, and other factors have and continue to affect the neighborhood.  We took weekly class field trips to each of these neighborhoods, adding a fun and interactive twist to the class. This artifact is the final product of our project. The project made me feel more connected to Seattle and thankful for the area that I grew up in. I also got to know my team members really well, making it an enriching project to engage in.

ARTICLE RESPONSE #2 - ECON 200

Screen Shot 2022-12-17 at 11.47.02 PM.png

ECON 200 was the first economics class that I have taken and a memorable class. My professor, Joshua Jacobs, was an engaging lecturer who connected the class concepts to real fluctuations that were happening in the economy. An important component of the course was the article responses, which required us to pick a newspaper article and explain the economics behind it. This article response explains how a tax on Chinese tariffs reduced consumer’s consumption of foreign goods in the US, causing inefficiency in the market. These article responses helped develop my understanding of the content and its relevance to real-world events. To this day, I regularly find topics mentioned in the news that we studied in ECON 200.

I found one of my favorite study spots on campus spring quarter, the Starbucks in Suzzallo. Thanks to my dining hall money, I was able to perfect my study snack - a toasted grilled cheese paired with a matcha frappuccino. There is something about the ambiance and gentle coffee shop background noise of the Suzzallo Starbucks that makes it the perfect cocktail for productive studying. I’m so glad that I discovered this spot as it has quickly become my go-to spot for finals week, getting together with friends, or simply enjoying a coffee!
